Welcome to “Alchemy Bugs”, a series of collectible transmuted bugs imbued with a wide range of alchemical and arcane secrets. Alchemists work together to unravel and create these wondrous creatures through customized and commissioned transmutations. This is done by combining “boring bugs” with essences. The image below shows a potential transmutation between a “boring cicada” and an “essence of Amethyst”. Each transmutation and combo is completely unique and hand drawn by yours truly, even if two alchemists submit the same combination you’ll both receive very different results.  

Essences can belong in one of five families: Crystal, Metal, Elemental, Forbidden, and Synthetic. Crystal essences include species such as amethyst, quartz, citrine, opal, and pyrite. Metal essences include species such as gold, mercury, iron, steel, and amalgams. Elemental essences include species such as ice, fire, electricity, flora, and wind. Forbidden essences is a small family of species comprised of blood, soul, rot, bone, light, and cosmic dust. Synthetic essences are species brought into the world by human hands such as candy, radiation, laser, neon, and mirror.

There are two categories of rare and powerful alchemy bugs known as “Esoteric Bugs” and “Decayed Bugs” and these are often accompanied by an animation and exist as GIF rather than a high resolution PNG. These are highly sought after by the guild and there’s a 6% chance a transmutation will yield one of these creatures.

Alchemy Bugs can be collected in one of two ways; digitally or physically. Digital alchemy bugs, boring bugs, and essences are created and stored on the Solana network and can be purchased, viewed and sold here. Currently this is the only method for transmuting new Alchemy Bugs which will eventually find their way into the Alchemy Bugs Trading Card series and game. Prospective alchemists are encouraged to join the Tyler Thrasher Curiosity Club where they can embark on quests, missions and choose your own adventures with their fellow alchemists to unlock free Alchemy Bugs, artifacts and curiosities as well as share your creations with the guild!
